Ten years ago, the discovery of a mauled half eaten Titi on the walkway prompted the creation of the Bluff Hill Motupohue Environment Trust. Congratulations to our volunteers and our partners who have maintained their stance, their passion and commitment to ensuring a safe place for these precious birds to continue on the mainland
This year, 80 Goodnature A24 automatic traps were purchased following kind donations by Ka Mate Nga Kiore and Rakiura Tītī Island Administering Body. Our amazing volunteers put in some long hours on the hill maintaining manual traps but these auto resetting traps have reinforced our special places on Bluff Hill by being on guard 24/7.
